How to replace crankshaft position sensor on 1998 Mercedes Class A?

I need to know how to replace the sensor. Do I need to unplug the battery first? Is it easy to remove the sensor without having to take apart the engine?

yes disconnect the battery first.the sensor is usually located behind the harmonic balance remove the nut from the balance then use a puller to remove it install sensor .
